Eight Fridays, 1:30 - 3 pm pm CT, September 6 to October 25
This is an introductory class for people interested in learning more about Zen and Zen meditation (zazen). In each class we will spend time in guided and silent meditation as well as learning about an aspect of the history, philosophy, or practices of Zen. This class is for those entirely new to Zen or those who already have a Zen practice but would like more of a systematic foundation.
Zenshin Florence Caplow, who will be teaching the class, is a Zen priest and teacher in the lineage of Suzuki Roshi and Zoketsu Norman Fischer, co-editor of The Hidden Lamp: Stories from Twenty Five Centuries of Awakened Women, and a Unitarian Universalist minister.
This class is offered by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Illinois. It is open to people 50 years old or older, with a membership and class fee
